Denver Current mood: content Category: Life

So we had our big trip to Denver this past weekend. It was great. It is amazing how a short trip can revive you. Sometimes just staying in the rut of everyday life really starts to wear you down.
We drove to Chuck E. Cheese in Ft. Collins for lunch on Friday. Always good entertainment for the kids. They always have a good time and it is a good place to take a rest break and have lunch.
Then we continued into Denver and to our hotel. We stayed at a Days Inn. It was nice. So we hung out and then went to dinner at Chili's which was also a nice change of pace. We have a Slattery family rule that when we travel we can't eat at a resturant if there is one in Casper...so NO Mc'Donald's..lol. After dinner we went back to the hotel to swim. Everyone is a fish...except me. And can someone tell me why the pool at EVERY Day's Inn we have ever swam at is always freezing! So that took a good couple of hours.
On Saturday we ate breakfast at the hotel and then off to the zoo. It was really fun. The animals were all about and we were able to see just about everything. The girls really had a good time. We all especially like the Lorikeets...you get to feed them nectar. We now have pictures of everyone feeding them, to go along with the one of baby Shelbylyn and I from the Wild Animal Park in San Diego.
After the zoo we headed to the mall. We let the girls play at the play area there for awhile and then went to Build a Bear Workshop. It was fun to see the girls pick and then make and dress their new friends.
We had dinner on Saturday at Casa Bonita. We also had a great time. At Casa Bonita they have cliff divers, roaming musicans, skits, ect... We had a great table...we were on our own balcony that overlooked the show area and the diving pool. It was hard to keep the kids eating...but we managed to enjoy the shows and get dinner in everyone.
Thankfully everyone was tired and went right to sleep when we finally made it back to the hotel.
Sunday we packed up and drove to Loveland and went shopping at the outlet mall there. I had gone into one of the kids clothes stores just to look and Dan and the girls waited in the suburban. Well this store was having a great sale so I called Dan to come in. Well he thought I had the car keys because I had been driving and locked the doors. Well the keys were in the ignition....sigh....but never fear...our smart suburban won't lock the driver side door if the keys are in the ignition...thank goodness. So after some shopping we continued north.
We stopped in Cheyenne to have dinner at The Texas Roadhouse. It was a great meal.
We finally arrived home at about 7 pm...just in time for the kids to take there bath and go to bed...school on Monday...wooohooo
We had a great time and it was nice to get away even if it was just for a couple of days.
