Super kid!

So the school year has come to an end. Another year in the lives of our girls has come and gone. This year is a major milestone for Shelbylyn, she finished elementary school. It is so hard to believe that she has now completed 7 years of school. Seems like just yesterday she was starting kindergarten.

Each year Manor Heights Elementary honors 4 students...usually 2 girls and 2 boys..with the Jaguar Pride Award. This award is given to the students who in the opinion of the teachers and principal have embodied all around good students. They have been good school citizens, they have given their best work and just basically been "all around" good students. Each of the students that earn this award are also given a $100 savings bond.

I suppose it would be fair to say that I sometimes do not give my girls enough credit. This was readily apparent the night of the Sixth Grade Banquet.

I am very proud to let you all know that Shelbylyn was picked to be one of the four Jaguar Pride Award winners for the 2007-2008 school year. Dan and I are so proud of her! It brings tears to my eyes even now just typing about it.

She is a good kid and does try her best! It is just nice that other people noticed too.
The above picture is Shelbylyn with her sixth grade teachers...Jill Weibel and Joey Bullock, with the plaque that hangs at the school with the names of the students who have been awarded the Jaguar Pride Award. They are team teachers...one taught in the am and one in the pm.
