The Fireplace Room

So we continue to work on house projects every time we have days off.  So Dan kept the momentum going and stared on the fireplace room.  It has real wood paneling, popcorn textured ceiling and original to the house 1974 carpet.

We packed up all the book on the bookcase, packed the pictures and knick knacks off the shelves.  Then he ripped up the old gross carpet.

Then he started the wonderful process of removing the popcorn.  It was so old he didn't even have to spray it down with water.  In fact he said some of it just came off in sheets.  No matter what...it's a HUGE mess.

It looks like we have a pile of snow in the middle of the room.  He used a large sheet of plastic to try and keep most of the dust out of the kitchen.  It worked for the most part, but there  still dust to be dealt with.

The mess is all cleaned up and the ceiling has been painted bright white.  It is looking great.  The girls liked it without carpet because it became one big echo chamber.  It was so empty!  The carpet guy was scheduled to come on Monday!

And right on time he showed up and got busy!  He did a really awesome job.  I am very impressed with his work.  If you need a carpet guy let me know because I would use this company again.  The above picture is him putting the carpet pad down.

The carpet is starting to go in.  He did such a good job...even used a straight edge to make the cuts. (Imagine that!)

The final picture!  It looks so nice now that it's complete.  It's nice to walk on and so squishy.    I need to redust the walls and the ceiling fan.  The room will be empty until Dan gets home from Laramie on Friday night, since I still can't lift anything over 15 pounds.
