Shelbylyn's 1st Dance

For about the last 4 years our Stake has put on The Regency Ball.  It has become quite the party.  It is a not just an ordinary dance.  They dance "old fashion" dances, waltzes and such.  For months before hand they have practices so people can become familiar with the dances.

This year Shelbylyn was finally old enough to attend.  It turned out to be her very first dance.  Who knew 14 would come around so fast.  Searching for a modest dress in Casper, Wyoming was almost the death of me.  Thankfully a good friend Amber Mesecher said come look at what she had.  She said she never intends to wear any of her dresses again.  Shelbylyn loved this one!  And thanks to Sister Hein and her sewing skills it fits her beautifully.  At first Shelbylyn was not crazy about wearing the gloves, but when asked after the fact she was glad to have them, due to sweaty hands...which they warned about.

We had to stop out to the police department so Dan could see her all dressed up.  He was of course working a night shift, which helped me have an excuse not to attend the dance. ;)

Her dance card was not completely full, but she was relieved because she said it was alot of work and was good to have a rest now and then.  Sunday morning she was still commenting on how tired her feet were.
At first I'm not sure she was convinced she would enjoy herself but in the end I know she will have memories of this first dance forever.  I am glad that it was the ball so she could dress up super fancy!
Here she is with a couple of the other Young Women from our ward.  Belle & Brianna  I hope they has a good time as well
